Five Year Recall Rights must be extended to each and every airline employee!
The tragic events of 9/11 should not be used as an excuse to prevent employees from returning to the jobs they loved!

Please support Senate Bill S.1992 authored by Senator Claire McCaskill, D. Mo

All TWA employees had zero seniority when the parts and peices were picked up out of bankruptcy, and all of them should have been treated accordingly. The only people screwed by Don Carty were the AA employess who have had their career/jobs ravaged because of one of the worst business decisions ever made. Any TWA employees still around should say Thank You each and every day to the AA employees who have had to give up so much for them to enjoy their continued employment.

Educate yourself above poster...We were NOT in bankruptcy until American showed up. That was a condition of the acquisition of TWA. And it will be a cold day in hell before I thank any AA employee for anything. When I fly I avoid AA like mad cow desease. When I have to fly on your airline I dont speak to the St. Louis replacement workers unless I have to.

The general public has the same view on the AA f/a.I heard it daily, before we were sent to the street. We were a breath of fresh air to the average AA pax. That should tell us something about the character and mind set in general of the AA f/a. Not to mention, the other unions that despise their behavior towards the TWA f/a. They have alot of baggage to deal with as well as KARMA.

I am a furloughed ex-TWA flight attendant. This recall rights extention issue is very very important to me. I am not happy being furloughed but I certainly could "move on" and find a job at Jetblue or at many of the other airlines hiring in the NY area if I choose. But I am enjoying my forced retirement.
I have no anger at the union. In my opinion, they are a bunch of e(usless)saps and in bed with management. They are a joke of a union with no power. I worked for other airlines, and have much respect for AFA. They were a very good and decent union. So I do have something to compare them to. Management says "jump" and APFA says "how high?" Just unbelieveable, and I don't know how it got that way, but it certainly isnt helping the flight attendant workforce, either the ones flying or us out on furlough. In my opinion, AA management is running the whole pony show.
I have no anger towards those AA flight attendants presently working. I think they are doing the best they can under horrible conditions, ie, flying short staffed, their schedules screwed with, lack of sleep. They are the first line, the passengers (customers) look toward them. At TWA, we made cut backs too, but we stood by each other and if someone wasn't up to their best that day, we jumped in and helped. AA flight attendants are for the most part, alone, adrift with no real union to stand by them. I do not think it is a happy place to work, not like the family atmosphere at TWA.
How could this change? More bodies back from furlough would take the load off the presently working crew, make their life a bit easier. I also would like to think us ex-TWA flight attendants could show the AA flight attendants how good the job can be even with cut backs and a terrible union.
That leaves who I am angry with, and it is AA management. They pretend its all the unions fault, but a simple letter of agreement from them could extend recall rights. And then us ex-TWA flight attendants could join our brothers and sisters at AA and try to instill our own bit of "family"
Looking forward to the day we all can work together.
AA management, do the right thing, extend recall rights. You took 9/11 taxpayers money, now its time to "pay it forward" with a side letter of good will.

I wish you all well. Makes me think twice before I fly American again.

Where are all the AA employees? They should be telling their union to get its act together. They could be next.

This union sucks. They give unionism a bad name.

This should be causing a revolution. Are the rank and file just clueless?

This blog is wonderful and I hope you hang these assholes to the wall. How can this union continue to function unless they are in bed with American management. I wonder.

I will remember my senators' lack of support (Obama and Durbin)in 2008 elections, as will my family. This has gone on long enough.
